30 Shamanic Questions for Humanity
From Ego Agenda to Soul Purpose
Introduction.

Staying Awake.

One of the most difficult things to do is to stay wide-awake during the death of your old ego attachments and the birthing of you own soul’s divine purpose.

These 30 Shamanic Questions are intended to help you to stay awake. By working one question a day for 30 days your life will change and a new vision of who you really are will begin to unfold right before your eyes. This book is just that an unfolding process that
will help you to reclaim your lost soul parts and shape shift your old reality as you discover your sacred purpose and remember who you really are. By following the format and instructions laid out for you in the following chapters your old ego attachments will begin to dissolve and your soul’s voice will begin to lead the way.

Ego attachments are developed early in life as a protection mechanism to help us adapt to our surroundings. They help us survive during our childhood and get our needs met. The ego is not meant to be permanently in charge of our life’s path and purpose. In order to be truly happy we must sooner or later begin to rely on something higher than our ego’s interpretation of who we are. This ultimately leads to the symbolic death of old ego attachments.

It is often very difficult to stay awake during the shift from one’s old reality to the new one that lies ahead. Even if we sincerely believe we have a sacred reason to be on the planet, and have a unique role in God/Goddess creation, doubt will surely raise its head when the ground beneath us begins to shake. There is a natural tendency to run for the shelter of what we know, even if it is not what we really want. The unknown future can feel threatening and our fears can all too easily sabotage our hopes and dreams. Rather than embrace the void we often opt for safety, or what we define as safety. The irony is that what may seem safe actually may be destroying us and hurting what we love and cherish most in our lives.

When we begin to make the shift from ego to soul we often encounter interference from those closest to us. It is understandable that those we are most closely connected to, partners in love, work and play, our children and employers, etc., may be resistant to this shift. We have created predictable patterns, healthy or not, that help others know what to expect in their connections to us. This may change considerably when one begins to listen to the soul’s longing. It is important not to judge those who do not understand and equally as important not to allow their judgments to interfere with making the decisions we need to make. We must remember that they still see us from their ego point of view and are in fact simply mirroring our own ego’s perception of who we are. They have not had the time or opportunity to go through their own process of accepting the change (the symbolic death). The discomfort will pass in time and if the loving connection is real these relationships will not only survive, they will thrive as they operate from a more open and honest place. During this time it is important to remember to TRUST LOVE! All things that are not love will begin to fall away-and isn’t that what you really want?

Even after you make up your mind to -- as the song by popular recording artist Sting says, “Let Your Soul Be Your Pilot” -- the pull will still be strong to revert back to the familiar rather than move forward to the new. You will need support, soul friends, soul tools, and a faith and trust in something bigger than your ego’s point of view in order to put down firm roots on new ground.

It saddens me to see people in the middle of a major life changes go “back to sleep” and stay in addictive processes that create so much soul loss not only for themselves but for those around them as well. While I know (and on some level, trust) that it is all a part of their journey it still disturbs me, especially when someone’s life and well being is threatened by a return to the old situation, addiction or pattern. This disappointment has been a powerful motivator for me and has led me to work diligently in discovering better methods and tools for healing.

The 30 Shamanic questions is the result of that search. They provide a highly transformative process of healing and self discovery that can cut through months, or even years, of talk therapy. As inner wisdom is accessed the answers to what have felt like impossible questions begin to take shape and become available to our everyday reality. Gaining access to inner knowledge is actually the easy part… staying connected to the revelations and insights takes longer and more effort.

Answering these thought provoking questions with a kindred spirit, someone you can trust to hold space while you dive into the secrets of your soul, helps to keep the process alive and moving forward. It takes time for the new seed of awareness to take root in our outer lives. Winds of doubt, disappointment and the skepticism of others uproot the new seedlings. In time, as the soul’s voice becomes stronger and is louder than our ego’s fear, a deepening will occur, which some refer to as serenity, an unshakable faith grows that there is indeed something in the universe, whatever name we call or know it by, that loves us deeply and has a divine plan for our lives. We begin to know deep down in our hearts and soul that our lives are not a mistake and this must surely mean that WE ARE HERE ON PURPOSE!

As we work this process the bigger picture begins to be our daily reality, the ego calms down and finds its rightful place in service to the higher self of love and wisdom. May we each be graced by this larger reality in our daily lives as we walk toward our soul’s destiny.
